Team Meal
After practice on Thursday, February 11 the City High team was treated to a team meal thanks to the Ringen family. The menu was determined by Nile and it was delicious - two kinds of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, corn, rolls, fresh cut-up fruit, cookies, chocolate milk and lemonade. It was a fun (and yummy) gathering at the Lutheran church near City High.

Service Project at Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City was the service project chosen for the team this winter. After an early Wednesday practice the team members and coaches went to the House to prepare the evening meal and help with cleaning. While some of the players helped in the kitchen preparing the spaghetti dinner, others vacuumed, mopped, dusted, and cleaned.

A Milwaukee Weekend!
A few weeks ago Coach Showalter asked everyone on the team to clear their calendar for the weekend of December 12 - 13. The boys wondered in anticipation for about a week to see what was planned. When everything came together it was announced that the team would spend a weekend in Milwaukee complete with attending the Milwaukee Bucks vs Golden State Warriors (at 23 - 0) and practice twice in the Bucks practice facility.
Saturday
Saturday morning at 8:30 two vans of eight each departed for Milwaukee. Van three left about noon as some of our players took the ACT test that morning. Many thanks to the Wielands for packing a sandwich lunch for everyone for the trip.
We quickly checked into the Residence Inn in downtown Milwaukee around 1:00 and then headed off to the Bucks practice facility.

Back at the hotel the third van arrived and we ordered pizzas before heading off to the Bucks game.
It was a ten minute walk from the hotel to the Bradley Arena. The Milwaukee Bucks played the 23-0 Golden State Warriors. It was an exciting game and the Bucks won!

After the game we all had passes to stay in the arena and wait to see two of the Milwaukee Bucks' players - Jabari Parker and Johnny O'Bryant. Johnny played on Coach Showalter's USA National Junior Team in '09-10. Jabari played on his USA team in '11-12.

Sunday
We started the day with a great breakfast at the hotel. Eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits & gravy, cereals, oatmeal, muffins, yogurts, fruit, and make-your-own waffles were on the buffet menu.

Everyone had time to pack up and move out of their rooms before study hall.
After study table time we all check out of the hotel and head to the Bucks practice facility for another practice. Today we have everyone here and get in a great practice.
Time to head home - but first a stop at McDonald's.
What a great weekend! What a great group of boys! It was a memorable time together.
