City Wins at Mt. Pleasant

It's the third game in four days and we came away with a BIG victory at Mt. Pleasant.  This Monday night game was a make up game from a week ago during the snow storm.  City wins by a score of 69 - 41.

Pizza and a Movie

A Sunday of pizza and a movie in the middle of four games in five days!  The Team met at Sam's Pizza Sunday afternoon at 2:30 and consumed MANY pizzas.  They enjoyed watching the Packers vs Cowboys as we ate.

Then off to the theater to see "Unbroken" a true WW II story of an Olympic athlete surviving months in the sea after being shot down from his fighter plane.  Then his capture and endless abuse in the POW camp in Japan.  It is a story of perseverance and forgiveness.

Breakfast and Win at Davenport North

The Team was treated to a Saturday breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, mixed fruit, juice and milk before boarding the bus for an afternoon game at Davenport North.  City won the 2:30 pm game 65 - 60!  Great victory!

USA Basketball Honors Coach Showalter

Team Party

After a GREAT VICTORY (City 59 - Burlington 39) on a Saturday afternoon the team congregated in the Commons at the high school for a team party!  First order of business was feeding the hungry group!

And then......games!  Prizes were on the line.  When Coach Showalter showed the prizes they were competitively engaged - USA gear (shorts, shirts, sweatpants).  Game points were kept through out the evening and the higher the score the earlier the chance to get the best stuff.

Coach Show pulling out the prizes.

1)  "Minute it to Win it" Games
First on the docket was a version of "minute it to win it".  3 teams of 6 competed in six different activities.  Each player had to do one activity.  They were such good sports!

Teams were formed

And strategies discussed!

Cup Stacking  Using one hand stack and unstack the cups in one minute.

Henry, Will and Conrad

Teammates cheering them on!

Coach Show holding them back.

Nose Dive Using only your nose (with vaseline) transfer 5 cotton balls from one bowl to the other.

Henry, Hooper, and Gonzo

Nutcracker Using a candy cane stack 6 nuts on top of each other.

Shamari, Chuck and Jason

Good job, Chuck

Face the Cookie Using face muscles only (no hands) move the cookie from your forehead to your mouth.

Micah, Logan and Jason

And the winner was....Jason!

Many attempts by Logan

Micah was determined.

Stack the Dice With one hand stack 6 dice on the popsicle stick in your mouth.

Nate, Ty, and Naeem

Snowball Toss Using one hand (and one at a time) toss the mini marshmallows into the cup.  Most in the bucket wins.

2) Card/Dice Games  Now each player will be on his own to gain points.  Each group rotated through three games and scores were tallied.

Farkle

Thanks to Judy (my sister) and Jim for the help with the
party!  They were in charge of the Farkle table.

Dutch Blitz

Coach Show was in charge of Dutch Blitz.

Spoons
And I was helping the spoons table and I soon
learned to move away as spoons and players were flying.

Prizes!! The highest scores got to choose first and down the line until everyone got a prize.
